Cebu City, Philippines — In a powerful step toward a greener Cebu, the Sugbuanong Maharlika Eagles Club has joined hands with Mayor Nestor Archival Sr. in his ambitious goal of planting 256,000 trees across the city. This collaboration is more than a civic project—it is a reflection of unity, responsibility, and the enduring commitment of the Eagles to serve whenever and wherever they are needed.
The initiative, launched by Mayor Archival as part of his long-term environmental advocacy, seeks to restore forested areas, increase green cover, and raise public awareness on climate change. For the Sugbuanong Maharlika Eagles, answering this call to action is not just a matter of planting trees—it is a testament to their mission of service to God, country, and community.
“We believe that real service extends to all aspects of life, including protecting the environment that sustains us,” said Kuya Arnel Matalang , Club President of Sugbuanong Maharlika Eagles Club. “This is not just a one-day planting event—it’s part of a growing movement we are proud to stand behind.”
Volunteers from the club, including members and their families, gathered at designated planting sites in support of the city’s greening mission. The event was marked not only by the planting of Mangroove Trees but also by shared reflections on stewardship, legacy, and the role of citizens in shaping a healthier world.
This effort is one of many environmental initiatives the club has supported over the years, including clean-up drives, eco-seminars, and sustainability partnerships. “We are always ready to help. Whether it’s for people or the planet, the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles ) will always respond,” Kuya Arnel added.
Mayor Archival praised the club’s involvement, noting that civic partnerships are crucial to the success of large-scale projects. “We cannot do this alone. It is with the help of committed groups like the Fraternal Order of Eagles ( Philippine Eagles) that we can achieve lasting impact,” he said.
Together, the Sugbuanong Maharlika Eagles Club and the City of Cebu are sending a clear message: it’s time to take root, grow together, and ensure a legacy of green for future generations.
